Hope?

I’m really happy right now.

Let’s hope we can gather enough Republicans to vote against the veto (come on guys, we know the veto is coming…)

It’s been a REALLY long day.

So I’m going to make a list of things that annoy me.

1.  Not being able to get out of my front door because of all the ice on my front steps.  I mean, it all melted off, I was so thankful I didn’t need to chip it off.  Then it refroze.  >.<

2.  Vitamins being expensive.  I just got back from CVS, I needed a new bottle of vitamins.  They were ten dollars.  I am a vegetarian, I try hard to eat healthily, but some things fall through.  Thus, I take a multivitamin daily, as I have for years.  I don’t need it to be ten bucks a bottle to do something small to maintain good health.

3.  Having a cut slip for being at French Day.  This happened to every French student in my English class.  Come on, guys.  I emailed my teacher in advance warning her that I wouldn’t be there, just because I wanted to avoid all the red tape.  Well guess what?  RED TAPE!

4.  Wikipedia vandalism.  I went onto the user page of a friend of mine today, only to see that a huge chunk of erudite, verbose text had been edited out, and badly spelled, lewd comments put in.  Don’t you vandals have anything better to do with your time then deface an encyclopedia?

5.  My own disorganization.  I can’t find papers anymore.  I need to clean out my bag, and I need to do it NOW.

6.  Missing Thoroughly Modern Millie.  I’ve been planning on going to this for ages, even though it’s just a high school musical.  And then it sells out from under my feet.  A small glimmer of hope shone after the snow day, there might be open seats for the new matinee.  But… it was my dad’s birthday, and that’s more important.   So I didn’t see it.  Nerrrrrr.

7.  Having to be in two places at once.  It’s just bad.

Yeah, that’s the story.  The good news is the orchestra gets to work on stuff from West Side Story.  (In case you didn’t know, I kinda worship Leonard Bernstein.  I mean, using tritones in Maria without it sounding creepy?  Godly.)

I couldn’t get this to work in the header…

because it’s in HTML and not CSS. Well screw CSS, I’m posting the image in a blog post instead of the header.

shamelessly ported from katzlib.wordpress.com

“What about ethics? Why are we always so keen on making allowances? Why isn’t it possible to be truthful? If Essjay had acknowledged who he was and encouraged the reporter to check the veracity, depth and breadth of his knowledge as the person he really is then wouldn’t he be making a much better point? This is about the way we live our lives generally and not about Wikipedia specifically.”

Note:

Thanks, Finn, for sorting out the Wikipedia thing.

We salute you.

Now can we all stop talking about Wikipedia?  I feel like it’s consuming the blogosphere.

Thank you for your patronage.

I don’t know if it’s totally fixed or what…

But you CAN edit Wikipedia from the science building.

Everything is about Wikipedia.

So someone at school was toying around making “useless” posts and articles on Wikipedia.

And now the school’s IP address is blocked from editing.

Ugh.  Group punishment for the egregious errors of “marcusad.”

Gar.

They killed Captain America!

They’ve shot him!  I can’t believe this.  Travesty.

I thought superheroes weren’t supposed to die all that often.  He was getting on in age, but still.  He could have retired instead.

My inaugural list

I always break in a new journal (or in this case, a blog) with a list.  In this case, it’s going to be a list of stuff I need to do in the next two days.

I need to better memorize the tenor clef.

I need to start reading White Oleander and finish up Man who Mistook His Wife For A Hat.

I need to get a physical so I can fill out my CTY forms.

I need to write an article.

I need to write a new draft for a book report.

I need to update my copy of QuickTime.

I need to do my Bio homework.

I need to see if Boys Don’t Cry is going to overlap with the Orchestra concert.  (It better not!)

So that’s it.  I have stuff I need to do.  I also don’t want to be “that guy” who drops his blog in the middle of the year.  Most blogs don’t even make it to one year!  I refuse to let that happen to me.  Here we go.
